Good Habits for Painting

 Cover the whole canvas in one sitting;

Craig Mullins

Usual when we are painting, we tend to focus on details and small things that catch our attention, some really good artists can keep this way of viewing the painting and be really good, but usually good artists and good instructors are negative about being so picky in the beginning. A good way to start is just get a big brush and cover the role canvas, getting the impression and the big forms of the painting. It's a solid structure.

Dominant elements first;

The dominant elements of the painting as to be treated like so, give the proper attention to them, and equally important is to give less attention to the others, it's not like to mitigate them or ignore them; just not steal the attention and the importance of the central elements.

Linking the elements;

John Park

Keep in mind that the elements of the painting need to link to each other, Like value, color... complementing each other for a harmonious painting, that harmony can be searched by diverging the elements or converging them, it's up to you, to decide.
